Hi chaps...
all fixed. As Gaz suggested I didn’t quite have my cables set up correctly. User error.
still nice to know my kids have not killed my speakers :)
Hi all.
I have a set of Tannoy floorstanding speakers (can’t remebe model, what HIFI gave them 5* though).
anyway... they are bi wired and my young kids have knocked them over twice. In addition to this my whole setup has been out of action for about 6 months (won’t bore you with details)...
cheers for the help!
I have a pair of Tannoy Revolution (they are about 4 years old, not sure of the exact model No). They are pretty good.
I think (based on what youve said) Ill stick with the PSU fix. Im open to the idea of getting a 3rd party to look at it, just a case of finding one.
I currently own a Cyrus 8 dac with a faulty PSU. I suspect my youngest (2 years old) turned the thing on/off so many times he damaged it.
I have two options open to me..
Send it in for a full repair and service - this will get the item fixed, and I think they give it a new two year garantee...
So, I have a nice system (cyrus 8 dac) and a nas drive...all I need is a nice way to stream whats on my nas to my HIFI. I have very little intrest in multi room setups.
With all that in mind, what are my options?
I realise I could buy somthing like this...
its actualy a wood buring stove.
Had I had the forethought I would have asked the builder to channel a path that could have been plastered over. As it is its not really posible todo much with it because its all now been fully rendered and plastered.
the floor is concreat with freshly laid carpet.
Anyway, I think going out the wall and back in again with some trunking will work well. Lukcly too the exterior wall is totaly out of the way, so it will keep everyone happy :)
Due to the building work iv had done I now have a rather impassable fireplace which I plan to put speakers either side of. In an ideal world I'd like the speaker cable to travel around the front of the fire place under the carpet. But I don't think ( given the thickness of good cable). This...
At the moment there are two contenders...
Cyrus 8 DAC - which my local dealer has one in as ex demo - perfect condition and sounds perfect (within my speaker/amp budget)
and....
Something a little diffrerent.....The Dynaudio Xeo 5s, which I realise are a totaly different approach but they too...
Hi guys, cheers for the advice..
the general thought for me is I don't want to upgrade if it offers no benifit, and but the sounds of things th dac in the amp will be better than the dac in my CD player. All things being equal ill probably stick with it.
intresting that you mention streamers -...
thats not far from the truth :)
basicaly I'm upgrading my gear. My (potential) new amp has a high end dac inc, and I was wondering if my £250 Nad CD player is worth upgrading.
Can anyone tell me is the digital signal that comes from an expensive/top end CD player is better than the digital output from a mid range/cheap CD player?
cheers!
Hi guys,
I may be joinging the club. I was originaly planning on buying something like the b&W cm8/9, and investing around £1000 on a nice amp.
My primary listening plesure is folky stuff on vinyl and rocky stuff on CD.
But recently iv been eyeing the Dynaudio Xeo 5s - they are within budget...
Hi guys and gals -
About a month ago I posted a question close to this about some speakers. Things have changed since then and now i have a little more money to play with and this has opened up a intresting option.
My original plan was to simply buy some CM8/9/kefs and wait a few months then...
Maybe a strange question, but whats the deal with traditional amps and active speekers?
Its my understanding that active speakers have the amps built in, with that inmind do I need an amp? whats the procedure to get multiple devices to the speakers?
cheers!
