    Denon AVR-X4000 Power Off issues

Assume he managed to sort it, given elapsed time, but for what it's worth I had a similar issue with an older Denon (pre-HDMI days) which was caused by overheating. I had to very carefully locate it to ensure a decent airflow. My newer Denon AVR-X2000 runs a lot cooler, but not sure if the...

    Denon AXR-X2000 zone 2 speakers?

I suspect I might just end up buying on spec, unless I strike very lucky with a shop having them in stock. I'll have a word with my electrician, he's done a fair few installations but this may need help from the vendors to get right. Cheers for advice.

    Denon AXR-X2000 zone 2 speakers?

Right, we've had electrician round and he's happy that all makes sense in terms of getting cables situated so it looks like a goer. Based on mmg's kind advice I've upped budget a touch. With the help of a knowledgeable friend I've put together a shortlist which is as follows: - B&W CCM832 (ta...

    Denon AXR-X2000 zone 2 speakers?

Hmm. Just had a chat with the missus and she'd prefer we go for in-ceiling speakers to avoid cluttering her lovely shiny dining room! Richer sounds do a few stereo ceiling speakers for £150 or so, I'll give them a go. Not expecting revelatory results, but as in all else in life compromise is...

    Denon AXR-X2000 zone 2 speakers?

Brilliant, many thanks - I'll have a listen to a few sets. The Boston Acoustics are very good for film but I'm not so keen on them for music - the subwoofer becomes too dominant and I can't quite 'adjust it out' - so a decent set of bookshelf speakaers could be just the ticket.

    Denon AXR-X2000 zone 2 speakers?

Hi all I've set up a Denon AVR-X2000 with some Boston Acoustics XS 5.1 speakers in my front room - the sound is really very impressive, especially given the size of the speakers, and the network features of the amp make it a decent media streaming device. The receiver is placed against a wall...

    Hi-fi streaming TO home network

Ta for reply - I think the sonos may be a bit too pricey, but I'll have a look at similiar.

    Hi-fi streaming TO home network

Hi all I'm currently getting my turntable set up, and will be investing in a second-hand hi-fi amp with appropriate phono inputs. This will be in my study as I've already tested my wife's patience with all the home cinema clutter in the front room! This front-room system is networked and is...

Pro-ject Essential with TEAC microsystem - phono amp or new amp?

Brilliant, many thanks Jim - as an aside, the majority of NAD amps on ebay appear to be 3020i models so all should be good.

Pro-ject Essential with TEAC microsystem - phono amp or new amp?

Great, thanks Jim. I've had a look at ebay and there's fair few Arcam Alpha 3s for not much outlay - I might sell the TEAC and use the cash to get either such an Arcam or something similar. They've always got good reviews and look a very decent bit of kit. As an aside, do you know if there's...

Pro-ject Essential with TEAC microsystem - phono amp or new amp?

Hi all I've dug out my old Project Essential and - once I've found a replacement for the anti-skate arm that doesn't seem to have survived my house move - I'm hoping to get the turntable set up. I've changed my amp to a new Denon AVR-X2000, which unlike my older Denon receiver doesn't have a...

Budget receiver for Boston Acoustics Soundware 5.1 setup

Gah - just got a message to say they've sold out! A few places were offering it at £250 which seems to have driven demand. It seems it's back up to £330 at most places now, but message is it'll be end of month before any are received. Anyone any ideas on other options, or should I hold on to...

Found the Denon AVR-X2000 for £279 delivered from Hi Fi corner, so went with that.

Budget receiver for Boston Acoustics Soundware 5.1 setup

Sorry, forgot to mention - a phono connection for my record deck would be a plus, but lack of one not a dealbreaker.

Budget receiver for Boston Acoustics Soundware 5.1 setup

I'm shortilsting some AV receivers to go with my Boston Acoustics Soudware SE speakers and would be grateful for advice. I've got around £250 to spend, and was considering the following: - Denon AVR-x1000/2000 (depending upopn whether the current cheaper price for the 2000 sticks) -...
