Sorry, but I think you will find that that isn't a universally accepted view. And you don't have to try to hard to find contrary opinions on the internet from amp designers / knowledgeable owners. You may not want to hear any hum as a personal preference though which is fine and understandable...

Well I have a Cowon X7 and it's glorious for sound quality. Does FLAC and gapless, and the 120GB version (which should be good for most people) can be had for £200. The 160GB is a bit more. I also have a 32GB Sony X1060. They are not made anymore, but you can still pick up newish ones on...

@ Rod: They are video optimised. They both have the QDEO processing chip implemented. I've read early reviews of the Oppo 93 which state that this is the most impressive artifact reducing solution for upscaled SD discs since the ABT2010 chipset from a few years back.

And note Andrew he has got the Oppo on order already ;) - I have the Arcam DV139 which has the Wolfson 8740's in. It sounds great to my ears. In fact the Wolfson DAC is the one reason I may choose the CA over the Oppo.

Not sure if this is known already, but I can't see it listed in issues. I am using IE8, tried with both normal and compatability modes. So I drill down to say CDP section of reviews (all sections are affected) and I select a manufacturer and the page then reloads but still with all mfg's...
