Happy to assist Stuart 🙂

Adams T series are at the budget end, each speaker has D Class amplification, so the actual footprint is ideal if you have limited space. If you're on a budget, match the Adams up with WiiM Pro Plus, you can then link your laptop or mobile phone via Bluetooth or Chromecast, also if he has an integrated phono turntable/CD Player, he can run it through the WiiM.

My Adams A7V's are rigged up in two different ways via the PC or the Digital Transport, both inputs are fed into the Eversolo DAC using USB B and C. The analogue Balanced XLR output from the DAC is fed into the SingXer head amp, the XLR output from there is fed into the Focal Sub Woofer, and the XLR output (loop) from there is fed into the Adams.

The WiiM Pro Plus feeds into the Eversolo via coaxial but also has a separate output through analogue RCA to the Adams, so if I don't want to turn everything on and I just want to stream music directly to the speakers I can do that (without the need of the DAC, head amp and subwoofer but that's always there if I need it via the coaxial connection).

My work laptop is fed into the Eversolo through optical connection, my microphone is directly linked into the laptop through the USB.
We really don't need all that complication, not unless you're thinking of a similar setup.

In a basic set up, you can use the WiiM as the main hub and run all other devices through it. The speakers are active, you don't need an amp and it will accept the RCA speaker output from the WiiM Pro Plus.

The costs, approx. £500 or cheaper if you find a better deal than Amazon, worth also checking Gear4Music and other sites.

That's spot on Jasonvich.
Very helpful, I'm now looking into them as I've found a few t-series sold in pairs with free isolation pads.

Already having a hifi of my own knowing my love for it my father still donated a full 1991-94 award winning selection to me not long ago because my mam won't have a full size kit with floorstanders in their/her new livingroom 🤣.

I still use the pioneer a400 I grew up with occasionally in a second set-up as it's a favourite of mine.
I serviced the system deck iix and replaced the cartridge to a goldring e3 and have it in my main set
Despite the sentimental attachment they sound better than some of the more expensive kit I've had.

I thought it only right I get him something nice in return for his small man cave but have never dealt with either active or near field audio speakers.
Given the size of the room it's the only real option other than headphones.

Your right that a wiim would be enough in conjunction with the Adams being "active" for his Spotify and to play CDs via his existing laptop.
I bought him a pair of Austrian audio headphones a favourite of mine for Xmas so they will go nice with it all in his shoe box getaway.

It will be interesting to me finding out what near field audio is like,
I rarely purchase blind but take what's said by this forum regulars as a good source combined with the existing reviews.

Thanks again.......

The term is a bit of a misnomer. Nearfield monitors are basically just smaller speakers. Studio monitors only differ from bookshelf speakers as they’re usually powered & have balanced inputs (XLR or 1/4”).

Studio monitors can totally be used for hifi. Some of them have a really flat response designed for audio mixing (Yamaha is a typical example) & sound pretty ugly. But still totally ok if you like the sound.

My Adams T5Vs sound great, fwiw. Very bass heavy for such small cones, but it never gets out of hand.

You're very welcome Stuart, only happy to help.

Revolution is correct in his explanation regarding nearfield monitors. The best way to describe the Adam monitors, well, these are like headphones without your ears being covered but all the benefits of spacious sound from speakers.

Also worthy of mention the U-Art AMT tweeters on the Adams are incredible, details that is lost on conventional tweeters are in your face but in a good way.
The kind of stuff you only hear on your headphones but seem opaque when you hear it on the speakers but not the Adams. The U-Art AMT tweeters multiple times more efficient, so the high frequencies are never harsh. Enjoy! 🙂

Best regards
Jason
