Surely if you have that level of budget it would be better to wait. You already know whats out there now, wouldn't you regret jumping in too early only to find out that a 2010 set is the best ever!

sorry ..didnt understand your answer... i already know whats out there , but with the kind of information im reading, with all the opinions im confused... there isnt a brand/model lcd/plasma that we can say - its the best choice within your budget ...

Im stuck with old plasma non hd , so i ' ve been waiting and waiting ... now i got a ps3 and fell that its the time for me , and i deserve hd or full hd image , or do i need to wait another year to see whats coming in 2011 and then whait some more ?

I'm in Ireland and looking for more or less the same thing, where would you be looking then maxflinn ??

Having recently purchased an AV and speaker system, I am looking to get a new TV. I spent a good few £ on the system and so cash is tightish
Im looking for a bigun as the room is big and so is the wall.
I'll be hooking it up to
Wii
Sky SD
blu ray
via Av reciever

Wife likes the really slim looking TV's, so that is a must.
Ive really no idea which to choose and could really do with a bit of advice

well a panasonic 46g20 will be within your budget , maybe even the 50in , but they are not super slim though ..

if you wait a while , the latest samsung 50c6500 should be within budget , and its wafer thin , no reviews yet , but they should be good , the blacks on this years sammys are said to be on a par with the panasonics , but you need to step up to the 3d 7 series for sets with the real black filter , although the 6 series may still be fine..

other than that , some new sonys are very thin , but you wont get one for less than £1500 , or theres the samsung edge lit led sets , also pricy though ..

trying to find tvs here in ireland is not always easy , stay away from harvey (**** turpin) normans , id look at power city , d.i.d. electrical are very fair with prices , and a good outfit to do business with , sony centres (a bit pricey) , you could buy online from peats.ie or even from richer sounds through boards.ie , just pick a tv from the uk website , order it through richersounds on boards and they will have it sent to you but youll have to pay maybe e40 for delivery ..

i should add that the g20s and new samsung plasmas are still scarce , maybe in a few more weeks they will start to appear , none yet in power city or d.i.d..

Thanks for that max, I'll have a look for the samsung.

So you think they should be hitting the streats over the next few weeks ?

Thanks for your advice
