I have recently taken a samsung 46" samsung 8000 series and am seriously underwhelmed by the sound
I have therefore decided to take the plunge with a home cinema system.
Currently have marantz 7200ki amp and marantz dv 7001universal player with tdl rtl3s floorstanders.
I am awaiting delivery of Yamaha rxa2010. Blu ray player will be panasonic DMP BDT500 when it becomes available. But may wait for the new range of Denon blu ray players which are imminently due.
Listened to a B&W 5.1 system with 683 floorstanders substitued. Found the centre channel did not have enough projection plus is too big physically for my space. Centre channel will be placed above fireplace shelf so to that end
was thinking to get tannoy dc4t lcr cos it will fit. Loved the controlled bass excellent seperation and clear midband plus overall tonality. Used Avatar blu ray, Dido and MJ Dangerous to evaluate.
I will keep the TDL RTL 3 s possibly upgrading xovers and tweeters for the time being. The only other choice was Quad lite satellites for rears but stands are a problem as i dont wish to wall mount. Do i need large rears or will satellites suffice for such a heavy duty amp? and will it sound any good? would eventually get a pair of 683s or MA RX6s, need further listening tests.
The rears are the quandry are they so important? Was thinking of getting either B&W M1ii satelites with stands or a second hand pair of tannoy 609s.
