I placed an order for an '863 with Exceptional AV on the 1st of Feb.After explaining the supply situation they took a 10% deposit (fair enough IMO) and have always answered my calls and told me my place in the queue.I think they have handled an unforseen situation well, although i admit it's been a frustrating wait and i really symathize with Acciesboy.Im currently 8th in the queue and will hopefully have my Yam before long.

Just thought I would bring this up to date...12 weeks and 2 days from point of order...

The latest info from the dealer is that Yamaha still cannot give any information other than shipments of equipment are arriving in the next 1-2 weeks, but Yamaha can't tell them what units for what orders they will deliver.

The communication from the dealer to me is now fine. It seems to be Yamaha are completely incapable of telling them what deliveries they will recieve. There was a flurry of activity five or six weeks ago when Yamaha made the token gesture of air freighting in a load of units and made a statement via Clare on this forum. It would appear that was a drop in the ocean. If they are due 1-2 weeks from now and they are coming from the Far East, then they are likely to be coming by ship. Doesn't anyone in Yamaha know how many and which units they actually put on the ship weeks ago? Is there no way to tell?? Is it a surprise???

You can build a house in 12-18 weeks. Why can't Yamaha manufacture a current product in a line of consumer electronics in that time?

Why can't Yamaha manufacture a current product in a line of consumer electronics in that time?Regarding fresh stock, Yamaha normally order stock based on projected sales 6 months in advance, like some other manufacturers. Obviously they don't want to overstock themselves, but at the same time they have to make sure they have enough. Buying trends have been turned upside down over the past 10 years, and nothing can be accurately predicted. As long as a manufacturer hits their targets, I would assume they'd rather be slightly short on stock rather than have excess stock they have to sell off at a loss.

Stocks on the x900's seem to be coming through ok now, so I can't see why you're waiting that long. But I will agree that Yamaha aren't able to give firm dates and quantities about incoming stock.

It is not a great situation but stock is continuing to come through every week. A lot of dealers will have placed forward orders months in advance and they will no doubt be getting the stock first. As I have previously said stock is getting much better with only 863's really posing a real problem for us right now in the AV line up - I am sure it is very similar situation for FrankHarvey.
