Yamaha RX 1067 and slimline PS3

Hi

When I play a blu ray disc on my PS3, my receiver shows i'm hearing everything in the relevant HD format. This should be the case as I have set my PS3 to bitstream the audio across to the receiver.

When I play a PS3 game, the receiver shows the audio to be PCM. I don't understand this as the PS3 is bitstreaming the audio across.

Can anyone enlighten me please?

Surely it depends what audio format the Game or Bluray was recorded in. I not sure any games are DD HD etc... Yet??

Yeah I agree, but just thought the receiver would show bitstream and not PCM!

Yep it does not matter what the PS3 is set to. If the game/ bluray / dvd does only have a PCM soundtrack that's what you're receiver will show
