The Yamaha is the next step up in terms of control, scale and refinement (movies and music) - as it should be for the premium. Though of course it's an amp, not a receiver, if radio is important to you (though the Z7 receives internet radio).

Interesting you should say it handles movies better. I used to own a Dsp1 and it handled movies fantasticly but not music

I currently have a denon 3802 and want to upgrade and had been leaning towards the pioneer sc lx81 over a new denon 4308 based on your review as there is no where in my town that you can go and demo one but what put me off a bit was a thorough review on the pio by audioholics about its inability to hanle 4ohm loads properly on an odd number of speakers, . My dynaudio centre is 4ohm and my front left and right 4ohm but 4 rear speakers are 8ohm.

Now I am very interested in this Yamaha, No where to demo it either, but I have read somewhere that it does not reccomend 4ohm loads I seems I can't win.
