Yamaha A-S500 vs RXV 667

Hi

i currently have a pair of brand new wharfedale 10.6 speakers and a pair of B&W 602 S3s'. im looking for a new amp to listen to music mostly but i like the idea of a 7.1 setup and buliding it.

Is there a HUGE difference in sound quality between these 2 amps? i want a 7.1 receiver but if the quality of music is no where near the same as a stereo amp im not going to bother.

Anyone with some experience can shed some light?

At this sort of price point, I'd always go with the hi-fi amp. Budget receivers incorporate a lot of technology and features, which are all part of the budget. The hi-fi amp is far simpler in design, and it's budget has been spent on 2 channel performance only. How close they get, only you can answer that with a demo between them and the speakers you have.
