Xeon or Intel i7-3930K for Desktop PC

Darn it, the gremlins are at it again.

Simple question - Xeon CPU with a motherboard capable of adding a second Xeon later or the i7 mentioned above?

Stand-alone PC, used for CAD, mapping, and possibly finite element analysis in the future, although I'm inclined to use a stand-alone UNIX box for the latter.
