Which ever decision you make hope you enjoy it.gel said:I have decided not to cancel the LG because I couldn't cancel the delivery of the Samsung 8500 4K blu Ray player. So I can't be bothered now to send the blu Ray player back, I will see how it performs with the LG 65E6. If no good or faults (some banding being reported) I will send back for the Samsung TV. The LG is turning up on Thursday.
That was going to be my post almost exactly word for word!Series1boy said:No I wouldn't spend that much on a tv, I would on a projector though....
Hi Oldboy, really good to see you again, the forums are a lot more sensible with you around my mate. I have just cancelled the LG 65E6V OLED and it was turning up tomorrow. I had the Panasonic OLED and everything else just don't look as good. I still prefer the LG OLED TVs though. I am glad you are really happy with yours, I am thinking about buying that one too. Part of me still wants to try 4K Blu Rays again though and I am seriously thinking about buying a Samsung to pair with it. I enjoyed having the Panasonic 65-inch TV a lot. The size was great. 4K was no better though and actually a lot worse than blu Ray.Oldboy said:Hello Gel,
How are you my friend? It's been a while eh so my apologies to everyone on the forum for my prolonged absence but I rarely get the time to look on the forum these days but it's nice to have a bit of time today to have a look through the topics that are on going. Anyway to the topic in hand...
To me Gel 5K is far too much to spend on a TV and most people I know gasp at how much I spent on my TV alone let alone the rest of my system. It's all relative though mate so if you are going to get a lot out of it and it is your main hobby then go for it if you can afford it, you would be the subject of much envy I'm sure!
I still wouldn't go to 4K though as it still doesn't justify the outlay with content still scarce and only a handful of 4K discs on the market and most of those I wouldn't want to own to be quite honest as they aren't great movies. I'm still holding off myself and waiting until 4K OLED is within my financial reach at 55 inches or more and if it gets below 2K then I may be tempted but really it's the £1500 price point that will force my hand.
I would be interested to see if you decided not to get another OLED and go back to LED and if you do I would love to know why as I certainly couldn't go back now as I just love my LG OLED.
As ever my best wishes to Gel *good*
Cheers buddy.Superaintit said:I wouldn't spend more than 2k. To me, 2k is the price of high end tvs. It's only since oled came that we're seeing 5k prices. I expect prices to drop drastically on oled tvs in 1 or 2 years. To me Oled is a significant step up but not as much as 5K's worth. All very personal as I did justify that amount on speakers. If you really get more enjoyment out of it, then spend it.

I'd like to know what you did that enabled you to retire at 35.
Most of us are going to be working until we're at least 70 these days.
And I've worked my manly parts off since I was 18. University thin sandwich degree, so no long summer holidays, first trip to an oil platform at 21. Last offshore trip at 49. Six figure salary, usually, but the oil glut has put me and many many in my peer group temporarily out of work.
Retired at 35? What were you???
I have 4 houses and 13 flats ALL BOUGHT .I do peer to peer lending starting at 15K and bank Switzerland with little or no tax.so yeah I'm full of **** gel.
