eww, around £1500 rear speakers?? it would sound good, but not in your room, and it's crazy expensive. the money would be better put towards you finding your own place to be honest.. also b&w subs are not the best value, my £700 arendal sub 1 would destroy that £1000 sub, goes lower. bigger drive unit and most likely better sound. maybe even the svs sb-2000 would rival that sub, which costs around £500!

just as a comparison, the subwoofer 1 by arendal could rival and come very close to the most expensive sub that superfi sell. the monitor audio gold w15 at £1750, very similar power RMS, but the sub 1 has more peak power i believe. and the MA has 1.2" bigger driver. that shows you buying subs from companies like svs an arendal and even BK provide tremendous value over subs made my mainstream speaker companies and for sale through stores such as richer/superfi.

Hi Gel,

I mean this in a positive way Gel, but that set up is overkill for your room if it is still the same as you posted once before.

Stand mounts rather than floorstanders all round would fit in better.

The Arcam with the Dirac are a good choice, notice you looked at the 850 previously and it is on my list but the 550 is still good.

For stereo I have an A49 and some said it was overkill running Kef LS50's off it, but it does sound very good.

Maybe if you could get your own place it would make your choices easier, but it is not always easy to buy your own place.

Hi Gel. :)

I've just received a PM from Nick on the AVI forum asking me to pass on a message to you.

Gel Please excuse my forwardness but I think that for a bedroom the surround system with floor standers you have mentioned would be a massive overkill and possibly boom. B&W speakers are good but I was thinking that a good 2.1 might just suit your needs better, I have the Avi DM10's plus Avi sub If you would like to have a demo I only live about 15 milles away in Flitwick J13 M1 is a 12 minute drive.

Regards

Nick.

His user name is Nick21.

He isn't a member here but he's been a regular on the AVI forum for many years. He's a really nice chap and as you live only ten minutes down the road from him he says you're welcome to come round and listen to his DM10s if you'd like.

Cheers for that. And say thanks for the offer but I don't drive and I don't know what the DM10s are? Thanks.

I don't think I have interest in active speakers - thanks for the offer anyway Nick.
