When you say OK, do you mean technically or sound quality or what?

Edit: sorry, I should also have asked - what are you planning to use them for - to play music at home, at a venue or as a PA?

I dont know anything about hifi systems, I want to spend around £200 MAX

and want the best I can get for that, im not a massive audiophile so i'm not too fussed lol

These are cheap, but the user review on the same page is hardly glowing - i would avoid them.

At this price level, the cost of design/components/assembly etc must have been very low. You will get what you pay for, so I would also avoid these.

Sorry to be so negative, but no-one here wants you to waste your money, and then regret the purchase.

However if you can provide some more context, like the type of music that you prefer, room size, etc, then someone should be able to propose a much better solution, for the same budget.

Are you happy to consider second hand? This would give you far more bang for your bucks.

There are many excellent second hand amplifiers about for a few tens of pounds - the main disadvantage could be a lack of digital inputs, but this could be mitigated by connecting a DAC to the amplifier.

Similarly a recent post described a very good pair of speakers, that was available in a charity shop for just £30 - so there are bargains to be had, if you know what to look for.

Knowing what to look for is your weak point, but the forum members will be happy to provide advice.

I preferebly want floor standing speakers, room size they will be used in is probably 20ft x 14ftish

I listen to grime, house music, d&b that sort of thing

Don't know what your source is but active speakers such as the M Audio AV40 for around a £100 would be a solution for you - no amp needed, they go plenty loud, sound reasonable, well reviewed and you can plug in almost anything - laptop, iphone CD player; anything with a line level output. I've got some in my 18' x 12' kitchen. Put them on stands and they become floorstanders... They do bigger and more expensive if you want. Just steer clear of that sh1te you linked to!!

If your criteria is for a setup that will go quite loud, deliver plenty of bass and look 'impressive'.

Given what is offered for the price the cost of the individual components, drive units for example, will be ectremely low so high quality is not to be expected.

My usual solution for a powerful high output system at minimum cost would be a pair of 8 inch active studio monitors from the likes of Behringer, M-Audio among others. Your budget is extremely tight but these are good value at the present time.

It looks like you want something big and visually striking though (here the Mrs has confirmed that if you wanted to define a 0 - 10 scale for wife acceptance factor the originals above would set the standard for 0) and sounds good. In which case Richer Sounds do a Mission Mx3 floorstander for £180 which is well reviewed and you can often get a good quality, fairly recent av receiver from yamaha say on ebay for peanuts if it doesn't have hdmi inputs or the latest technology to combine with them. Look for local pickup only ones near you.Then add a couple of quid for budget speaker cables from QED or similar.
