Hi, So I have an Ekho SX-650 amp (http://www.whybuynew.co.uk/pa-systems-live-sound/ekho-sound-sx-650-1300w-amplifier.htm) which broke last night. Connected to the amp were two Skytec speakers (http://www.hifi-tower.co.uk/Pair-Skytec-DJ-PA-Blue-Dual-10-Passive-Speakers-1600W_i4315.htm), and two Sony hifi bookshelf speakers. Sony's were connected to outputs on the rear of the Skytec's, so I think they connect in parallel. I have used this setup for some time without problem, and at much higher volumes for longer periods than when it blew. Possible causes of problem:1. Amp was cold and put on reasonable volume almost immediately (around 1/2 of maximum).2. On one set of the Sony's the wire that connected it to the Skytec is infact two wires spliced together. I moved something and I think the positive/negative wires (at the splice point) may have come into contact. Any suggestions as to how to fix this/what component(s) may have been blown? There was a faint smokey smell after it blew, however no components look burnt at all. Many thanks, Andy

You'll have fried something in the output stage. Difficult to say what exactly. But playing four speakers from one pair of outputs, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.
