Windows mail emails (vista) to windows 8.1

Hi all,

New laptop just arrived and windows 8.1 all ready causing issues

questions for you..........

is it possible to get my windows mail emails from my windows vista machine (I have the windows mail folder backed up) onto windows 8.1 and viewable?

Open Windows Mail in Vista, then from the file menu choose export and save them to a folder.

Do the same with the accounts.

Open whatever mail program you are using in 8.1 and import the email and accounts from the folder that you have just exported from Vista.

You are now done and fully back up and running.

I'll give this a go although I'm going to have to wait a while till I get a vista machine again when at my parents. My vista machine completely died so I only have the folder content rather than an export.
