I'm waiting patiently for the Panasonics 65 inch 3D TV to be launched in mid July and after getting in touch with the local John Lewis store they will be phoning me back on Monday or Tuesday of this week so i can pre-order that TV. I've got a very long living room and it will fit nicely under the bay window.

Bloomin' 'eck how high is your window sill?

It is quite a size and the TV will stand on the floor in the the bay window at the front of the house and there are three seperate windows based their and as i say i'm lucky in having a very long living room, despite the rest of the house being relatively small.

No. I demoed the Panasonic 50VT20 at the weekend and was unimpressed. I immediately started suffering eye strain which might be mitigated by watching in a darker room, but I still found the performance did not blow me away. I reckon it needs to be on a bigger screen. I'm probably going to buy the V20 or G20 and wait three or four years to see if 3d content takes off and then buy current state of the art.

No, i won't, 3D is way over-rated. I enjoyed the 2D version of Avatar more than 3D!!

From a gamer's point of view I could be tempted to look at 3D sets. However, it's a massive cost outlay after your console, games and then a TV and at the moment only Sony seem to be pushing it. Microsoft haven't mention it once.

Add to that that films can be hit and miss with 3D (e.g. Avatar - really good, Clash of the Titan - Very poor) and that TV content still isn't HD let alone any plans for 3D, I'm going to wait some time before delving into 3D. My next TV with be a HD set and the change on films and speakers.

I have already bought a Samsung UE46C7000 with 3D Blueray player BD6900 and got the free glasses. Its absolutely crazy. Its so good. you have to see it to believe. I dont know what else to say. its mental.

What exactly are you watching/playing on it which makes it so mental?

And when the novelty wears off?

And then the headaches start.

And then the eye problems.

Great response guys, a unanimous two fingers to the 3D technology going into our top of the range 2010 TVs and will be trickling down into middle and lower spec models shortly. What baffles me is with a vote of 85 % or higher of the public vowing not to buy into 3D why am i still awaiting delivery of the one i ordered 7 weeks ago !!!! Keep them votes coming.

Yes - though much more so for the games than films. It can add something extra to a "spectacle" movie but really shouldn't be applied to all. For gaming of a particular type - racing, FPS, third person adventures - it can really add to the immersion and overall experience.

i reckon most half decent tvs next year will have 3d incorporated , one wont have to "buy into it"...

It is a pity that the manufacturers haven't put more effort into perfecting the current crop of HD TV's before going into 3D

No!

Hassle of changing kit & expense of it all. TV/Amplifier/Source/Cables etc

Lack of options atm as tech is still new

I still believe if it doesnt take off - there will be a change in direction for 3DTV

Technology will develop with time - im waiting

You can see from my post on the Samsung U8000 that I already have, I don't recommend 3D in its current format but I can highly recommend the TV for 2D. I should be annoyed that I didn't buy the previous Samsung which is a lot cheaper now - 7020, but to be honest I take some strange comfort in having bought the latest tech - even though I don't really like it and it cost me £600 more! Stops me wishing I had something else - for a little while at least. I suspect other AVholics will know what I mean.......

3D is just a gimick ... here and now because of the movies ..... NO ONE would want to wear specks to watch tv , that'd be plain stupid.

It's a passing phase and those with money to 'burn' will maybe entertain it ... but normal folks won't.

it will be as standard on tvs in a year or two as 100hz imo ..

You may well be right Max... as the big companies will again be trying to dictate to the 'sheep' as to WHAT is the 'in-thing' but i'll hazard a guess that it will also be phased out after that

Only foolish people would actually WANT to sit with silly specs on whilst watching their tv ... and i'd have another guess that HD on all progs is the way forward and not 3D format.
