WiiM game changer

A new sub with automatic room correction. Price not yet available, but suddenly those WiiM amps are not looking so useless after all. If the price is right this may be a no brainer.

They're also set to launch the WiiM Sound which vies with SONOS and various other smart speaker options and can be used as part of a surround sound setup. They're definitely going to keep making waves and I think that's a good thing. This WHF article seems focused on pitting it against Apple but I think it has a much wider reach than that.

Giving a frequency range without any parameters is meaningless. There's no way a single 8" driver is doing anything meaningful below 40Hz with only 250w driving it - I don't care what DSP is involved.

Yes it is nice New Age small hifi for my son. And for me, when retired and sent by son to some rest home. 😉

If that's taking a load off the speakers you have the wrong speakers....
In my opinion.

No, fundamentally the wrong amp. The WiiM Amp/Pro amps are not consistent. Reviews scientific and otherwise have stated this, WHF gave it 3 stars. My wording was wrong, I should have said, take a load off the amplifier.

I cannot speak for the Vibelink, which is more powerful, but the StereoNet review suggests you still need to give some thought to speakers.

I maintain that this sub, priced right, will make for a great WiiM system.

The WiiM amp doesn’t even have a high current output transformer to power floor standing speakers, forget about being able to weld two thin metal wires 🤣
Who listens to WiiM amp, instead a tabletop WiFi speaker is a great alternative.

Leave it to the Artist, Studio composers and the Hi-Fi manufacturers. The Hi-Res album will come labelled if a subwoofer is required, if it has been mastered that way.
That makes no sense whatsoever.
Please show me such an album.
Who the heck is going to master an album in such a way that they have to say "sorry guys, I screwed up, you're going to need a subwoofer or this mix is going to sound rubbish"??

For few type of songs and genres, a label gets printed on the Hi-Res album, just like on Blu-ray discs, saying this requires a subwoofer to fully enjoy this song.
