Its not something ive really delved into but as far as I understand it there is 'no evidence' that suggests watching tv damages peoples eyes (Including children)
Some children who sit up close to the tv do so as theyre 'near sighted', but again, it wont damage their eyes, theyre just compensating for their vision problem. Children in fact are much more capable of watching tvs up close without eyestrain than adults
