Why are my Sky HD black levels so much better than my Blu Ray blacks on Pioneer 4280?

Whenever I watch a Sky HD channel the blacks are seriously impressive when compared to the blacks produced by my Panasonic Blu-ray player. I've switched HDMI leads and there is no change?

Please may anyone advise why there is this discrepancy? I have used THX discs etc but suspect it is the blu ray player itself?

I've no idea - I assume the settings on the TV are the same for both inputs?

By the way, seriously impressive blacks in your posting!

Check you Blu-Ray setup , and TV settings can/do apply to the specific input so you need to set all used inputs.

Check the PS3 settings for RGB, is it "full" or "limited". Change it and see what happens.

Thank you - I take my blacks very seriously!

The settings are indeed the same for both inputs - very strange - I suspect it is the blu-ray player, but would like to think it is better quality than the Sky HD box?!
