WHY Adele 25 IS NOT ON SPOTIFY ???

She said she wasnt making it available to online streaming services. Guessing they dont make enough money from it in relation to normal sales. I suspect it'll appear eventually once everyone who wants to has bought a copy.

More illegal downloads to be expected....

For me Spotify is the place that i can check out new artista/bands and see if justify to by the CD or vinyl.

This. If artists think by throwing their weight around they'll combat illegal downloads they're in for a rude awakening.

They earn money from Spotify and many people who discover acts via services like this go on to buy a back catalogue of work and many will attend concerts.

The last albums I've bought were directly from the artist web site, and thats the way I like it! At least I know where my money goes!

But first i've heard the albums on Spotify, just because they are there doesn't mean the people won't buy the album!

If Adele starts throwing her weight around, we're all in trouble. *mosking*

If you were Adele would you bother putting the album on spotify? She'll sell millions anyway, no benefit to her.

21 wasn't on the streaming services for ages either. But no great loss imo, she's one of the modern generation of wailers and warblers kickstarted by the likes of Whitney Houston and the equally-detestable Mariah Carey, who murdered every song she sang. You don't have a great voice just because you can sweep five octaves, the likes of Karen Carpenter, Enya, the ABBA girls, and Annie Lennox, among others, absolutely wiped the floor with the lot of them. Oh and best not mention legends like Burly Chassis.

Taylor swifts 1989 album which was also not on streaming services, broke many sales records. It was the fastest selling album in ten years (at 5 million copies), pretty much since the likes of illegal downloading started. I think that's a direct link....not putting an album on streaming services if you are expecting to sell high amounts = you sell a shed load more = mega bucks!!! $$$

I'm on an inclusion and diversity course next week, but first I have to do the online unconcious bias course.

Picking up an amazon black friday deal tonight I got side-tracked and picked a few CD's including Adele's 25 after hearing some of the tracks on the beeb this week. Still looking I timed out of the deal so I deleted everything but I will get the Adele CD sooner or later.

I bet it gets played more than ABBA! *pardon*

A man after my own heart in many ways Major *good*. Definitely agree with you re the current crop of wailers and warblers. Mariah Carey - vocal gymnastics in attempt to mask an incredibly poor and weak singing voice. As for the others on your list: Karen, Enya, Agnetha and Frida, Annie, Shirls, all totally superb. I would also add Donna Summer, Gladys Knight, Randy Crawford to the list of my favourites. As for the ABBA girls they were untouchable together, but strangely their solo albums leave me totally underwhelmed. I too didn't think highly of Whitney but lately have been pleasantly surprised when playing some of her back catalogue.

I read somewhere that both Annie and Shirley both stole the show when they performed either at the Grammy's or some other grand event surrounded by the likes of Adele, Beyonce, Madge, GaGa, etc. None of the current crop of singers can hold a candle to real talent and the ability to actually sing.

+1 I guess we are of the same generation Major and don't get too wound up in the hype.

And for anyone that does want it, go buy the CD you ccheapskates.

Who needs the pre-digested pap churned out by Adele and the rest listed above?

Some people obviously do, though, strange because there is just so much more (and better) to explore.

Spotify is wonderful simply because of the range of music available, yesterdays training was done to the sounds of the Pogues "Rum, sodomy and the lash", this morning I shall be pottering around the house to a bit of Puccini.

Yes, she represents my worst nightmares about 'popular' music.

I might tune in when she releases Adele 71
