As above, just looking around at some very nice setups, what’s yours? Thanks.

Bah, it must be mine: Panasonic SCBTT775 *biggrin*

*biggrin*

It was your Yamaha that got me thinking about this thread BlackSab.

My setup is the best for me gel but not the best on here *smile*

I was going to nominate you for that very reason. You seem to be the only one on here who has what's right for you, rather than what's right for everyone else!

Me ! Well I am not a sheep so I do not follow the other sheep but thought that that’s what it’s about buying what you like your self and what sounds good to your self

hifi and home cinema are both a very personal thing and it’s not always about what something costs because if I didn’t have any money I would of been happy with a Marantz pm6005 and it’s matching CD player as I would have no choice in that and there is nothing wrong in the Marantz 6005 because I had one so I am not a hifi snob .

Now I’ve just spent £4000 on a amplifier for the first time in my life which is a lot of money and most probably be my last amplifier if I get one that works next time round but I’ve still got to pay for it each month an till I’ve paid for it but this was the only way I could afford to get the Yamaha A-S3000 by borrowing the money .

Because I am not rich person and in this hobby you never have any money if you let the hobby get the better of you which it can do and I’ve been there before eyes up to debt and I wouldn’t want to go back there as it made me ill years ago because I couldn’t control myself if I wanted something I would buy it regardless if I could afford it or not and that’s not a good place to be in but the difference now is I think about my actions more and what if and you can’t keep up with technology .

I probably made myself look a bit condescending here as I’ve just brought a expensive amplifier but it’s the only thing I’ve borrowed money for otherwise I couldn’t afford to own one .

but there are people on here that have spent more then I have on here but does it make them have the best setup I do not think so

After spending on a HT as well as Stero system in the last 2 years. I've decided to cool it down a bit, and devote funds to the families concerns first. Very easy to get carried away in this hobby. I have decided to keep my bonuses aside for my hifi purchases, no matter how long it takes to get to the next box. Atleast takes some guilt away from the next purchase.

I've moved through quite some kit in the last 2 years. And everything was pretty sounding . I could have been happy with any of them even now. So expensive might be slightly better, but not always required.

We should always decide prudently between needs and wants

EllisDJ has a very good system now, check out his Pursuit Perfect website and YouTube channel!
Oh yeah. Cheers.

I know for a fact that I certainly don't, both my amp and CD player are over 25 years old now, I expect the amp to go pop any day and the CDP smells like something's breaking down inside, I suspect I'll let them die before I replace them though. I don't even have a home cinema, just an old 40" Samsung TV and a Panny Blu ray player *blush*

From what I vaguely remember I reckon Gazzip's got the best Hi-Fi on here, not sure about HT though, I don't know enough about them to judge.

You should see what some are doing on avsforum.com.

I was chatting to a guy who does home theater (sic) installations over here. Its not unusual for people to spend $50k or $100k or more....

If there was a competition for the best value system, I woudl definitely nominate mine.

I think, for what I have spent over the years, I definitely, have a very good value 7.2.4, 4K system.

Going by some signatures on audiogon and avs forums. The Americans seem to be going nuts when it comes to hifi and home theatre. Some folks have spent my entire budget on power ancillaries alone 🙂

I also love trawling www.usaudiomart.com and oogle at the lovely gear on sale and the mouth watering price. USA will be a hifi seekers dream 🙂
