To keep things simple 😂 (as it never is with hifi) I'm looking for a pair of standmounts to fit a small/med room.

My preferences are primarily for a musicality and an unambiguous clean sound with power to always play on the exciting side of the dial (not to be mistaken for overcooked bass etc).
Floorstanders are out of the question they overload the room.

I have different setup and sound preferences for different scenarios but this HIFI is for occasional use usually short listening sessions whilst having a sporadic spare 25 mins or so.

Quoting a short usual "listening time" might help describe what type of sound I'm looking for.
(An exciting type sound that may fatigue over time wouldn't be something I'd gear towards on a main system but here it's ideal)

I'm looking for the same "short exciting music fix" we all do from time to time.
Typically the type most get from a pair of decent headphones up loud on their way out somewhere.
(I prefer speakers when possible 😊 )

I'm budgeting around 250-800 with the obvious wiggle room for the right pair of need be.

The usual suspects are obviously there from QA, Wharfdale, b&m and mission but I've heard none of them.
Any suggestions would be really appreciated and as always I will post what I think after the demos and the obvious choice of speaker afterwards

Without knowing anything about your room, I'd say that under £1000, the Acoustic Energy speakers are pretty impressive. They sound far more balanced than much of the usual suspects in the price range, and will be a little more forgiving of living near the wall compared to conventionally rear ported speakers.

A lot depends on the room, and how much flexibility you have in positioning them.

Right in the middle of your price I would suggest you have a listen to the Triangle Borea BR03. Not sure if exciting is the word, but they sound big and bold.

What Source/amp are you using
Klipsch RP-600M II
Magnat Signature Edelstein
Kef LS50
Elipson Heritage XLS 7
Polk Audio Legend L100
Heco Celan Revolution 3

or Heed type 07 Active studio monitors & just add a source Eg DAC/Pre
Use a pair in a small room , very compact with 200wpc built in amps can do 116db if required & Sub 40hz

FIRST I'D LIKE TO THANK daytona600, Fandango Andy, nopiano, davidf mFOR HELPING ME.

I will endeavour to demo a pair although they are an complete unknown to me.
I usually go to either Richer sounds or HIFI sounds so it's something feasible to add to the list 👍

B&W should meet that brief.

For bargains, perhaps the Mission LX range? My usual preference for QA doesn’t meet the ‘exciting’ requirements, which is why they’re easy to listen to in most systems.
Thought of the b&w range almost instantly having heard a pair awhile back whilst demoing floorstanders and coming home with Fayne's which I posted about awhile back.
(I think they are hidden at the back of one of the posted photos behind the Wharfdale Evo and Fayne F502's)
They were set up from the last customer and becoming friendly with the guys there they let me have a listen out of curiosity in which they did leave a lasting impression.

Unfortunately mission have become hard to track down to demo where I am.
Both hifi sounds and richer sounds will buy them in to purchase but they aren't stocked to demo.
Digressing but coincidentally my first ever bought speakers were mission 760i at 14yrs old saving £1.20 a week for what seemed like ages after catching the bug from my father 😆
I'm still on restoring his original 763i's which is the only speakers to survive his collection.
(I say restore, what I really mean is I got all the necessary parts, drivers etc then forget about them in storage)
Silly really as I ended up having to buy complete donar speakers from ebay and getting a kind seller to "brake" them (for parts) as she wasn't willing to post complete

Well theres not much flexibility tbf but the prime listening position is accessible all be it by standmounting them.
I will indeed look into them and a demo.
I'm not one for too much bass always preferring a good pair of floorstanders with a smearless and fast "Clean" performance without subwoofers but after rhetorically trying a pair of QA 3050i's in there which I really like in a bigger room they are too much as said prior, So I'm hoping big but not too bold

I will be using either a
Pioneer a400 or Roksan k3
Marantz CD 60
Ifizen
(I already have them in which the a400 an old favourite of mine I keep despite regularly changing kit is in a second more vintage HIFI setup albeit playing to modern QA's.
I like the sound of it that much I might leave it where it is and take the Roskan which I also hang onto to the demos but knowing myself will swap em round out of curiosity hence the mentioning of both )

Try the Rega Kytes. They definitely have punch for those quick blasts but also have the flexibility to be satisfying over a longer period. I love them, and I've had a great number of different speakers.
