Haven't heard the Moon, but the CD5 certainly is a quality CDP. However, for the money, if buying new, you must try the EMC1UP.

I agree with Mac , if you a looking for Cd players at this level you should add the the Electrocompaniet EMC1 UP to your list , it is one of the best IMO 🙂 .

For that budget you can also pick up a Meridian 808.4, not sure about the new 5

I've heard the AR and Electro CDPs in the past and they are top notch. My only question woud be whether upmarket CD players really have a place any more. E.g. the CD5 is £5500.

Mine was pretty good in its day and is hard to beat even now, but I'd never spend that sort of money again when ripping and streaming seems to be the way forward. However, if I was determined to get a CD player in that region, I'd look at the Copland too, as well at the latest Krell.

It depends on lot on your partnering gear too...
