Deck, Arm, Cart....I know thet are all important but which contribute most to a better sound? For example, the SME V sounded so much better than the techno arm but sometime I wonder if that money would be better spend on transfiguration cartridge?

Apart from the on/off switch it has to be the balance of the platter and arm. If both are less than perfect you usually end up with "woe and flutter", a lot of budget and mid-range TTs suffered terribly from this 25-30 years ago.

If for instance you put on a Phoenix cart with the SME there's no doubt it would be good but then how about the Gyro!

Good point but i don't think it really maters. Suspended or not its about resonances. Its impossible to completely isolate the turntable, theres to many moving parts but what good turntables do is resinate it the same way.

In CD player (which I know about them a lot better than TT) I believe DAC is the most important so would cartridge in TT term can be compare to DAC in digital world? or this analogy doesn't really work?

You can have the greatest cartridge and/or arm but if it isn't balanced properly, you don't want your cherished music sounding like its been over dubbed by a pidgeon sountrack.

No matter what the kit, it has to be level and isolated from vibrations, they are the most important

Certainly hope so. But going with your budget, TTs usually (genearlising) are more sensitive; the slightest of internal or external vibration has been known to oscillate from the needle through to the speakers. I've known someone who's heavy footed walk past and heard the slightest of rumbles from the bass speaker. So make sure your floors rock solid.

I think is hard to pin one thing down on a turntable. I agree with the DAC in a CD but a turntable has so many other factors that contribute. Isolation is a big factor also an independent motor but so is tracking the record and marrying a cartridge to the arm be in low, medium mass. Getting a TT to run as smoothly as possible is the key to good vinyl playback.
I'm not sure all TT over 2k will be the same just like CDP as all will be different in some way, what you want is a turntable set up that will pull the info from the record with as little interference as possible and i'm sure the more you spend the more information is available through arms, cartridges and turntables. Thats the beauty of Hi-Fi.

thx for that shoot. Sound simple but I bet it's almost impossible to get it perfect.... Why did I ever start going analog in the first place?
I have a big collection of old (some may say rare!) LPS and without that stack I don't think I would bother with turntable as my cd player is already fantastic (imho). and may be that's the problem! without wanting to get involve in analog vs digital war, to better my Audio Aero, I will need to spend more than I wanted to on deck and yes, I know at certain point in my hobby I will find a deck that sound better than any cd player at any price (I already heard Simon Yorke S10 and WOW! that was amazing) but until then turntable is simply just an alternative way of enjoy music.
