I'm thissssssssssssss close to buying a blu-ray player. As well as looking for a great player of blu-ray discs, I naturally want something that will do my dvd collection justice. Any suggestions?

Which DVD player do you currently own? Depending on the model, this may do a better job. Personally I'd rather have a dedicated DVD player for DVD duties and save wear and tear on my BD player.
For your budget, the Pioneer LX71 will be your best bet - superb with DVD as well as Blu-ray (even plays a decent tune). Full review here.
