Which Amp?

So I desperately need to upgrade my amp. It sits between a Yamaha CDN301 and Q acoustics 2020i speakers.

The obvious two choices in my proce range are tme Marantz PM6005 and the Yamaha AS501. I have read good things about both, and wondered whether, if in doubt, you should always go with the same brand as your cd player?

Unfortunately I can't get to a shop to try them out, so I'm going to be buying deaf...

I'd go with the Marantz. You can connect the CD/Streamer digitally to the Marantz. There is no need to worry about matching as you will use the built-in DAC on the amplifier; the Yamaha will just be the transport.

Whats the budget as 2nd hand can be worth considering.

A used Leema Pulse or a Rega Brio R would be high up my list heard the Brio R Saturday and was impressed by the tone. I had a Pulse and its a brilliant amp can be had for £350 ish.
