Surely if you liked the CXA60 then the 80 is obvious choice, or maybe not. I must say I admire its design.Actually I'm hesitating between Cambridge audio CXA80 and AX R100

Nice ! Yeah I think it is a really good amp for this priceSurely if you liked the CXA60 then the 80 is obvious choice, or maybe not. I must say I admire its design.
Yamaha A-S700 is buyable for me but are you sur these are more interesting than cambridge amplifiers? Not a fan of the Cambridge audio CXA60 or 80 or higher then theses models with any Dali speakers as the Cambridge audio amplifiers are not a great match on a sonic level .
As the Cambridge amplifiers sound plain and boring with Dali speakers as i have had a demo with the CXA60 ,CXA80 and the top of the range amplifiers .
Yamaha is a better shout as you get the involvement , detail and sound stage but not sure how good the lower Yamaha models are but i would look at the Yamaha A-S700 , 800 but save the money to get theses models before wasting your money on second best because if you have a good amplifier it will really get the best out of those speakers on a sonic level .
I would say the Yamaha would be a better choice and you get 3 years warranty if you buy any Yamaha products but everyone's choices on what they think is good is different to everyone's personal choice .Yamaha A-S700 is buyable for me but are you sur these are more interesting than cambridge amplifiers?
Based on your advice and subsequent research I have sourced and hopefully will soon purchase a Rotel RA-1062 as an intermediate amp until I can afford the Parasound Halo Hint 6Fair enough

I haven't seen the latest issue yet, however I know what I am after.....What about the Parasound on the front page of whathifi right now?
It's a mono power amp, don't want to buy two of them and a preamp..... bit out of my price bracket at 8k each, and will be overkill for what I need. What about the Parasound on the front page of whathifi right now?

Much appreciated, the Rotel sounds hard to beat for the money even considering it's about 15 years old.Nice one Al

Expect my opinions soon......
Silver finish.You're welcome
The amp was released in August 2003 and i had first stock in Europe. I hate to state the obvious however please try and ensure you get an amp which is working fully to spec. right across the board. When all the ducks are in a row then boy can this amp sing
Btw, Black finish or Silver/Black finish please?
Really? Everything else I have, turntable and speakers excepted, is black...... admittedly when I get the Hint 6 that will all changeThanks The most popular finish
If the OP (Vysion) is quick enough there is one on eBay from Germany currently going for £172 but only 17hours left.....Fair enough
