I'm looking for a 65 inch tv to wall mount in a general tv room. Sky HD will be the main source. I will be linking to a surround amp so sound not important. Viewing angles not important as all seating set up directly in front of screen. Football, rugby and movies will be the main material being watched. I don't really want to spend more than £3K. I'm not really interested in 3D and don't see UHD as being essential as most still out of my price range. A friend has the Samsung UE65F8000 which I've been impressed with but as this now appears to be an old model wondered what other options you think I should look at?

Thanks for any suggestions.

Make sure you purchase from a good retailer. Some of us on the forums have purchased panasonic sets and had issues, if it wasn't for the retailer then the issue from panasonics perspective is within specification. Those purchasing from John Lewis or richersounds seemed ok, those purchasing from other outlets are stuck with the problem as panasonic are no use what so ever

If you're looking at Samsung's 2014 range, this is it:

http://www.johnlewis.com/compare-products?1333171=samsung-ue65h8000-curved-led-hd-1080p-3d-smart-tv-65-with-freesat-freeview-hd-2x-3d-glasses&1363482=samsung-ue60h7000-led-hd-1080p-3d-smart-tv-60-with-freeview-freesat-hd-voice-control-and-2x-3d-glasses&1333105=samsung-ue65h6400-led-hd-1080p-3d-smart-tv-65-with-freeview-hd-voice-control-and-2x-3d-glasses&1363913=samsung-65hu7500-4k-ultra-hd-3d-smart-tv-65-with-freeview-freesat-hd-and-2x-3d-glasses

The HU7500 is a 4K TV.

Samsung's 2014 flagship for 1080p TVs is the 65-inch H8000 which is a curved TV, or the H7000 flat TV which tops out at 60 inches. You have the H6400 at 65 inches (flat TV again). Or for your budget, you can look at the 75-inch F6300:

I have seen the / a 75 inch samsung in SSAV Sevenoaks

Looked really good until got up close then it was shocking.

This was just playing back tv but after seeing that i would want to be 15+ feet away or not bother

Even though 10" bigger i would not swop my panny for it ~ not even close

Calibrated it could be a bit better but its movement was lousy

Think it was up for £5k as well
