Enjoy your Panny. I have the same, really delighted with it.
On the Apps, I have Amazon Prime and it appears to be Free!
Mine was an ex-demo. It appears they forgot to delete the account 😉

Nope! Ha ha!
You really don't need to spend beyond UB820.
It's a premium quality player. You would need to spend many times more to get something better.
Happy New Year Shrek, Happy New Year to you all! 🥂🎊🎆🎇🎈🍾🍻
It is very impressive indeed even my older DVDs look aand sound amazing must try Lord of the rings soon love the music in that film. Happy new year Jason Happy new new year to everyone cheers 🍻🍻🍺🥳

A bit of insomnia last night led to a slightly manic decision that I want to try planar headphones. I know Jason rated his, and a few other people have mentioned how much they liked them, so thought I’d see if they turn me onto headphone listening more at home.

Hifiman, Meze and FiiO are familiar brands. There are many but usually in the esoteric price range like the German T+A.
The original He1000 and Susvara are heavily being discounted on Hifiman website.
Do try to compare the different brands, they all have their unique signature sound.
Enjoy ☺️!

I can't reasonably compare dynamic drivers to planars as I had closed back DDs so to compare to open planars is a waste of time.

However, what I can say is that open planars sound quite magnificent to me. Detailed and just so spacious. Bloody massive but excellent and fully worth the investment for my circumstances and use cases.

Ps.
Planars love juice 🥤
You'll get the best from your planars if you invest in a good headphone amp.

My dual mono power supply balanced class A Gustard H26 are ###### amazing but there are many out there, worthy of mention.

I’d already gone & bought some - Hifiman Edition XS. Annoyingly the great deals weren’t available at any local stores so decided to take a punt largely based on price & reviews. It’s a fair amount to spend on an experiment, but I’m interested how the sound will differ from my Sennheiser HD580.

I’ve got one of those tiny douk headphone amps, so if I’m taken by the headphones I may well think about something a bit better to power them.

I've got a Topping DX5 Mk2 on its way to me.
Based on my (limited, but favourable) experience of previous Topping headphone amps, it looked like good value - especially with a current 10% discount on the 'normal' price.

Will 'only' be driving my HD-560S, but I've found them to be excellent.
That was on my shortlist of two when I was looking at headphone amps. I ended up not getting it because it wasn't in stock *anywhere* at the time - it'd be interesting to hear your impressions when you've had it for a while.

Been debating buying some vintage headphones some thing like the Koss K/125 to allow for later night listening. Curious about sound difference to modern headphones as I mainly listen to records but also want a long chord to reach from amp to my recliner comfortably.

They're 50+ years old so would likely need some refurbishment (at least new pads) which might not be easy to find as I imagine they aren't still made.

Anecdotal reviews of those headphones aren't very favourable.....at all. Cords are cords and can easily be sourced at any length.

I should've written this last week, but this weekend I bought a Fiio KR11 DAC/Headphone amp. My old AKG K701 never sounded better that with this amp. And the KR11 feels really solid and has a proper power supply. Unbelievable for just 140 euro or so.

It has to be the new budget king. Truly is an amazing sounding R2R DAC /headphone amp, and so compact, you can tuck it away out of sight.

One of my earliest were the Koss Pro4AA model.
Can't remember much about their sound, but can't forget that they clamped like a vice.
There will be as much difference between modern models as there are between modern and vintage.
Just as with speakers, it comes down to personal taste.

Give yourself maximum options - don't let the length of supplied cables influence your choices too much. Extension cables are readily available (and easy enough to make).
Rather than trail across the floor, thin 3 (or 4) core cable run round skirting board, can be so unobtrusive, you don't even know it's there....to a neat socket behind your recliner.
(If you're not one of those with a recliner out in the middle of the room)👍

Damn you and your bad influence Jason.. suddenly started worrying that the Douk U3 might not have the power to drive planar headphones. I might now also have a shiny new Schiit Magni Unity on the way to me 😁
