I can listen to them
You can, but when you state as fact the cables sound different, you are expected to explain why, if anyone questions your comments. I can say Elvis Presley lives next door, but if I can't prove it, everyone will doubt my comments. Just saying on a forum that a cable sounds better doesn't actually make it true. There's something called scientific consensus and also peer testing. Cables need to be tested against each other and then if someone can prove one sounds better than the other because of its technical qualities, the argument is over. If anyone could pick out any particular cable 100% of the time, then we could find out how and why they could do this. At the moment, it's jsut people saying 'I think it sounds better, because I'm daft enough to pay a fortune for a length of copper covered in plastic.'

I don't have to explain why it sounds different other than it's not the same cable

Why is one car faster than another car (0-100) , i don't have to explain why other than better weight to horse power ratio

can you explain why amp a is more power full than amp b, because it's a bigger amp ?

so an amp with more power always sound better ?

An amp with lower distortion always sound better ?

It's a fact that silver speaker cable often sounds brighter, sharper than copper cables, i don't need to know why or how the difference is achieved, i just have to stay away from the siver cable if i don't like bright, sharp sounding cables, i don't need to know why silver cables often sound brighter than copper cables.

There are several reasons cars can travel at different speeds and why some amplifiers are more powerful than others. You just need to understand engineering, electronics and physics. There is still no proof that one cable sounds better than another.

I'm not stating as fact that a cable can sound different to another, so I'm not required to prove this.

I'm telling you that you can't prove there's a difference, so until you prove me wrong, my position is still valid.
Why would it matter to me if you can't hear a difference between 2 speaker cables ?

It would matter if someone want's to buy qed silver annoversary xt but don't want a bright sounding system

If an amp has less distortion ,thd than a another amp and you can prove it, it vil sound better ??

why did a nad 3020 the first models sound better than even at that time bigger amps ?

You don't need to know why, it's just a better constructed amp, period.

If people hear a difference than well done, but I'd like to know why they hear a difference.

There must be a physical and scientific reason, if it's true, although I don't believe it's true.

Stating unprovable things as fact is a dangerous hobby.

Against my own, better judgement I am now looking for a TT after having sold most of my vinyl & deck some time ago. I've already broken my self induced promise to not collect hard copy music anymore with a recently acquired CD transport. May just as well go the whole hog again.

This cable debate is an indefinite loop but we can all come together in unison, if we first dispel the entrenched views and the dogma from either side.

Here's a bit of blah I read, which I want to share. It's a more rational approach to "do cables make a difference"?

choosing 100% through listening tests would make this conversation go away.

You don't need to explain, you just need to demonstrate that in a blind test you could reliably pick your cable of choice 100% every time against a standard cable.
It really is as simple as that.
Pick your cable (blindly) 100% of the time then:
1) You've proved to yourself that it's more than just your imagination.
2) You proved to yourself that you've made a worthwhile purchase.
3) You've proved to others that they're wrong to doubt what you say you've heard.

In which case, no reasonable person could continue the debate, You've proved your case.

But "Why should I have to prove anything 😩?"
is the common response to suggestions of genuine blind testing. And yet they wonder why the debate goes on......
