If I remember correctly, I used to use a screwdriver inserted into the whole, twist about and let the widening tip slowly grind away the sides of the hole. A round file sounds a muchbetter idea!

It is, I believe they are also referred to as 'rats tails' and I am certainly glad I held on to my old one as this seems to be an annoyingly increasing phenomenon.

It'll be 'Year of the Cat' next then? ;-)

Nah, he'd gone a bit too mainstream for me by the time he recorded YOTC. I see he's back on the road again, he's playing the London Palladium soon, as is a certain Mr Zimmerman.

Class indeed. That one set up 'Al Stewart' afternoon, so I then moved on to 'Love Chronicles' (some lovely guitar work from a certain Mr Page) and 'Orange'.

His best album is Past, Present and Future by a country mile IMO.

i like it very much, Al. It's beautifully recorded, detailed and recognisably his style of playing. He stays in an M.O.R style, not really playing as he would play rock on keyboard, but it's a relaxing listen, and he does vary pace. His choice of tracks bears this out, I think. I originally bought the cd, but had to see(hear) what vinyl sounded like, and haven't been disappointed. BTW, the vinyl is on two discs, so no compressed dynamics.

If you like piano played well, I don't think it disappoints.

Back to the thread, I'm currently listening to Classic Rock Anthems, a double LP, then Black Rose on cd.
