looking for some help with a big decision with regard to my next purchase. I am looking at a new amp and speakers to replace my Arcam AVR 300 and IQ50 front channels which fit with IQ10 rears and the IQ 60C centre. For the amplification i am looking at the Arcam AVR450, Yamaha RX-A3040 and the Pioneer SC-LX88. For the front channel speakers i am looking at the PMC Twenty 23 and the Kef R500. It's got my head done in as all the reviews are very similar.

Help would be very much appreciated

Personally if you can wait! hold off on buy any av amps/blu ray players at the mo as there are new sound and picture formats being implimented at the end of the year (proper 4k support with proper HDCP support and DTS x the follow up to DTS-MA) . So would hate for you to waste your money. if you care aboust such things that is. You should start seeing new amps from the brands you mentioned above around late summer/autum.

But if you dont mind not having the latest and greatest then what you have chosen is really nice. I would probably buy the amp first as you could do with new surround sound codec's and you may find it will give your kefs a new lease of life.

I would probably add Anthem in to mix as well as the new marantz 7009 (i think thats right) people on the forum are ranting about the marantz at the moment. Big Boss has the most experiance with that.

In regards to speakers i havent heard them but i would sugget auditioning them with all the above and really only you can decide whats best for you as everything you have mentioned has very different sound from the arcam (apart from the arcam 450) especailly the pioneer! Pioneer is a very anilitical/detailed sound which is often mistaken for brightness.

Hope that helps a little
