What to choose?

Hi,

I want to buy an Hifi system and I need some opinios about the following:

- Amplifier: Cambridge Audio 640A V2 or Marantz PM4001 OSE

- CD: Cambridge Audio 540C V2 or Marantz CD5001 OSE

- Speakers: Focal Chorus 714V or Monitor Audio BR5

My room is about 30m2. Yesterday I heard the Monitor Audio BR5 playing an DVD concert in 5.1 and I dont like very much the sound...

Personally i'd go with the C/A amp and CD combo with either Monitor Audio RS6 floorstanders or RS1 speakers with good mass-loadable stands.

If you fancy the Marantz set-up then take a look at B&W 685 stand mount speakers, also with good mass-loadable stands.

I dont really rate the M/A BR5 speakers much and havent heard those Focal Chorus speakers but heard others in the range and didnt like them, but then i may have different musical tastes.

Another possiblity would be to look at the NAD C352 amp and NAD C542 CD player combo you can get on Superfi.co.uk for just over £500. This set-up would go very well with either the M/A RS6, RS1 or the B&W 685 speakers.
