Following your advice i have bought Arcam home cinema and i am very happy. Thank you very mutch.

I still have got money left so want to buy media centre.

Any advice ? What make , model, where best to buy?

Thanks again MI - 1080p

Media centre, What like PS3?

If yes, then PS3.

I stream everything through it, and takes all files and is fully upgradable with firmware.

I was in the market for a decent HTPC. Had used Laptops and minidesktops but the fan noise killed half the fun. Excessively familiar Windows / Apple UI screens made it feel more like work and killed the other half fun. Currently I use PS3 but tired of converting files all the time (The PS3 Media Server is at best an average solution from streaming perspective but awesome to copy stuff to PS3 HD).

My best bet is to go for a small foot print machine like Acer Aspire Revo with XBMC running natively. I have not done this yet but this is under consideration.

I was thinking of something more superior. Any advice where is a goot place to purchase one and get advice as i realised there are many extras and options to choos from

Thank you

Well, I've done the Aspire Revo and I've seen the WD Media player PJ mentions (I set it up for my Dad). Without question I would go for the latter. I have the HDX BD1 which is great for my needs but has it's issues with firmware problems. You want something more superior. There is not much out there to be honest. If you want something that plays all formats - look no further than the WD player or my one. Mine does HD audio as well, I'm not sure if the WD player does.

Cheeky ;-)

Don't under estimate this little box of tricks. Thw WDTVLive has analog and digital outputs (HDMI and optical), the latter providing bit perfect playback into the DAC of your choice. So, see it as a source only and for something superior, simply spend more money on your DAC.

Gerrardasnails,

I'm also thinking of the Acer Aspire and XBMC option as I've heard good things and I need to decode HD audio to HDMI LPCM in the player. I loved XBMC on my XBox and have been waiting for a small cheap media centre platform to put it on for hi-def. For under £200 and with internet and expandability for TV functions it seems like a winner.

But your comments have worried me. What did you think made the WDTV better?

Any info much appreciated.
