The NR1501 is an excellent amplifier, we match it with the BD5004 and overall performance for stereo as well as surround is great for the price point. It is also one of the only reall compact solutions with HD audio.

Marantz tell me stock is short at the moment, to the point that there are no review samples around. That should change quite soon though, apparently, so I'll be making further enquiries early next month.

Does that mean we will see a review, if Marantz send you one to test? Would love to have a choice cause as things stand all im doing is waiting and hoping cambridge audio release some new affordable av receivers and keep them slimline. That could be a while in coming. So fingers crossed.

I find this very strange; there is a hi profile magazine wanting to review a product that has been available for some time now and the company can't find just one unit? Are they worried about the outcome or do they have an incompetent marketing department? It does make me wonder.

Yes you would have thought they would have passed it on to someone for reviewing purposes, since their stereo amps have been getting all this free publicity for being award winners!

Understandably, if the company doesn't have stock, there's no point generating demand with what it hopes will be a favourable review if it's unable to satisfy that demand.

So it's choosing to wait until it has stock more freely available before submitting the product for review.

That does make sense. So, the Marketing department are fine; it's the production area that needs to be sorted out? <GRIN>

The 1501 is designed to meet certain style and space requirements and one cannot expect it to have the match the performance of more sizable models.

I've read the reviews on the Marantz CD6003 and want to purchase it. How does one do that in the USA? None of the Marantz dealers have even heard of it?

Looks like it may be a model Marantz USA isn't yet selling.

I asked a few months back about the MARANTZ NR1501 av receiver and you said they were in short supply any change and is there any chance we will see a review of this amp in the near future. Please, please, please.

Is it too old hat to be considered now, or just not of interest?

Ye remember posting that, was just hoping things may have changed since then, its about the only slimline av reciever out there that decodes HD audio. I just havent got the space for a full size amp, think im in a crowd of one!

Mr First Tests Editor Lucas is on holiday this week, but I gather Marantz hasn't exactly been tripping over itself to get us a review sample.

Think they are aware what would be said and would rather it wasnt reviewed!

Then you know better than us, not having had a review sample an' all. But at a loss to work out why you are so keen to read a review of a product you think won't be much good that you now have two threads asking about a test.

Going to merge them - this will get messy...

I was unable to find the old thread until someone highlighted it by then it was too late, sorry. I dont have any idea what the amp will be like and hope it will be superb but just found it surprising marantz dont seem bothered about having it reviewed. Last time i searched i couldnt find a review for it anywhere!

FWIW I have an NR 1501 and Kef 2005.3 system and I am very pleased with it. I bought the NR 1501 because of space considerations....beats my old CA 540R and Gale set up hands down. I found it relatively easy to find an NR 1501...couple of calls to Richer Sounds and all sorted.

Cheers

Richard
