I would like to have your oppinion on this:

A Marantz M-CR502 + 2 Wharfedale Diamiond 9.2 speakers for listening to radio + cd's and attached a Panasonic BD35 BD player for watching movies with a Panasonic 37PX80. (i have to buy everything yet).

Or is it a waste of money buying a BD player withoit having a surrroundsystem? Personally i don't like the idea of all those speakers, also i'm not a fan of big components, and slimline receivers are hard to find (yes Arcam Solo would do the job, but it has its price...)

Thanks

True you won't get HD sound or even surround, but that's only half the equation. You will be getting excellent picture quality through your HD ready TV - you could argue that a good upscaling DVD player would be a better choice because of the price of DVD's - I would definitely recommend get the BD player, the price of BD's will fall and then you'll be left wanting.

Further, have you considered a style surround package? A nice compromise between all out surround and the ladies.

(maybe sometimes my questions/answers are a little strange/rude, but that's because i'm not a native english speaker)

anyway, thanks for the reply.

I'm sure about the BD player, just to be future proof. bUt indeed, i'm still doubting about the 'sound sytem'.

You mentioned HD sound, what is exactly the diference between HD sound and surround? I can imagine that HD sound has more 'sound' (you know what i mean?), but doen't this also depends on the speakers?

But i can conclude that it isn't possible to get this HD sound via a stereo receiver, if i'm right.

I did have a look for some surround speakers, but still, it's not really what i like (actually, i don't really know what my gf thinks of it..).

Also,as far as i have read is that a surroundsystem isn't really good for listening music, which for me is more important than movies. On the other hand...there's a really cool BD coming from the band Within Temptation, so watching music BD's (concerts etc.) is also something i like..

questions questions...
