i read reviews and often mentioned is room size.

Surely this is subjective or is there a given measurement in the world of hi fi?

Here is something that is actually useful to you for sizes of rooms.

This acoustician says anything under 40*40 is a small room.

Strange - it virtually assumes a typical room is more or less square. In the uk a lot of living rooms are approx 13 foot width-carpet rolls 13 foot width for a reason.

As Vlad said - a Yank's viewpoint.

Doesn't a mobile phone have a very easy to use calculator.

(back to the election - go JC!)

Its volume related andrew I am pretty sure.

Room needs to be a cartain length in all dimensions to lower the bass freq problems.

However you would think larger room more echo higher decay time so I am not sure

Square room with 8ft ceiling and raised hardwood floors has to be the worst thing possible.
Whats considered the best Very high ceilings or not?
Larger is better for deep bass, when you look at the wavelength of, say, a 40Hz signal - about 28 feet from memory. And ideally non-parallel sides, which isn't a typical design feature of a home unless you have a new Charles Church house like ours where everything is out of line - so great for audio! - along with a brand new substation less than 100 metres away, so we are almost wired straight to the grid!

But is it audiophile quality mains cable? :)
