I have a qed uplay plus to get my digital files into my rega brio-R amplfier, via bluetooth.

I'ld like to improve the sound of my system by including a dac between the qed and the amplifier. My budget top is 1000 euros. Could you help me with one or two suggestions?

Why not search the reviews section on this site, you can sort by stars (I'd suggest you include 4 star as well as 5), filter by your budget and then see what you can find locally to listen to.

In my experience, you can spend a lot on a DAC for very little improvement, money best spent elsewhere. Off the top of my head, Musical Fidelity M1, Audiolab M-DAC, Arcam irDAC and the cambridge audio dacmagic plus. All are under your budget despite the euro being in the toilet at the moment. Worth looking for second hand too, there's nothing much to wear out, but the well known / rated units hold their value well.

Im also looking for a DAC for my system. ( pair of b & k mono blocs, run through my marantz AV sr5008, using a Cambridge audio CD player. Using an old pair of alon VI. ) I've read the reviews, also know that the DAC's are quite particular about pairing with the rest of the system to maximise the performance. So it's pretty hard to figure out the best match for my existing system. I was looking at the arcams or the chords. Any other suggestions? I like to listen to jazz n soft rock. Would appreciate some pointers.

My opinion , for around 1000 euros I think you will find Chord Chordette Qute HD...This is great DAC ,you will find your sistem can sing and swing like never before.... next one is Audiolab M-Dac ...that one is much cheaper but it is great DAC ( only 24 96 on USB but great)

I would buy a Monitor Audio A100 with built in bluetooth, airplay and DLNA for streaming. Connect the pre-amp out to your brio-R amplifier. It should be around 300 Euros.
