Bought a Panasonic TX-37LZD70 back in July. After reading mags and forums, have decided to take the plunge with the following tackle from Super-fi, Sony STR DA 2400 ES, Pioneer BDP LX-51, Panasonic DMR EZ47 and Kef 2005.3's. Will also have virgin+ box, freesat or sky+. Have got a mate to help me set it up as I've little idea. What should I do about cables ? Should i listen to staff @ Super-fi and follow their advice or just read up and take the plunge again.

If you're buying everything from Superfi, then some free cabling should definitely be on the agenda to swing the sale

Umm,

I just got the Q acoustics 1010i speaker package and got some free cabling ( 3m QED performance subwoofer cable and 20m of QED micro)

My question is, as someone who knows ****** all on how to set it all up!, will the micro cabling do these speakers justice ? Or for that matter the supplied sub cable ?

Also how do you connect the micro cabling ? ?

Forbes,

QED micro is perfect for the two rear speakers, but I would invest in something better for the fronts and centre. (I did with my Q Acoustics 1010i speaker package)

What amp and player you using?

The sub cable should be ok too.

But I would invest in some granite plinths for the sub and front speakers (maybe with the Q Acoustics stands, filled with sand) I used some 30x30 granite 1cm thick tiles from topps tiles. At £5.99 each it's a bargain.

As for connecting the speaker cable- look at the cable and one side will have writing on it, and the other side have none. Make sure the side with the writing on it is connected to either the red or black - but MAKE SURE its the same at both speaker and amp end. I tend to have writing on the red side of all my speaker connections.

Hope that is helpful.....................

Thanks for that pete

I dont have my amp yet, richer sounds was sold out of both the Yamaha AX763 and Denon 1909, but which ever they get back in stock

first is probably what i'll get.

Not sure if I want the granite plinths, what do they do ?

They improve bass clarity and sharpens up the overall sound.

I worthwhile upgrade, as is the Tacima CS929 mains conditioner, which improves the sound further in the same way.
