Heya people! Well ive had my home cinema setup (denon 2310 and B&W 685 theatre) for a couple of months and its time to stop using the PS3 as the blueray player as my blue ray collection is coming along nicely and the set deserves a better source. The question is what blue-ray player to get. I have a budget of £400 for it but maybe willing to stretch it if need be. Can anyone recommend a decent player. I did look at the sony bdp 760 but is there anything else worth checkin out? Any help would be great.

Thanks for your time!

I think Richer Sounds are doing the 760 for £300 (if they have one in stock).

Although the 360 for less than £90 on Play.com seems mighty tempting.

maybe the DENON 2500BT which has now been reduced to within your budget, and would go very nice with the 2310. or you could look at the pioneer's, second hand you can easlily pick up a BDP-LX71 or even BDP-LX70A. if you want profile 2.0 then maybe the pioneer BDP-LX52. i have had a pioneer blu-ray player for 2 years now and have got no intention of changing it for some time, although loading times are a bit slow for blu ray on my BDP-LX70A i feel its worth the extra minute wait for the PQ and SQ. the pioneers are also very good cd players with the wolfson dacs. i suggest you compile a list of players you like ie sony denon pioneer and list there pro's and con's and what you want from them, then go demo them. and choose the one which suits you best.

Pioneer BDP-LX52 would be a fantastic choice but you will probably have to pay £475 for one!

If I was in your position I would probably wait and get a 3D blu ray player. Even if you not planning to get a 3D tv in the near future you will be buying a future proof player. Sony will be releasing the BDP S770 in the summer and its got loads of new features as well as including being able to play 3D blu dvds.( the PS3 will have a firmware update this year to inable it play 3D films and games, thus the only current blu ray player that can be upadated).

I agree with Si22. I'm looking to purchase a dedicated Blu-ray player, my setup deserves a better player than the PS3 much like yours, but I will be waiting for the 3D players.

the only problem with waiting for a 3d blue-ray player is that the first generation are going to be mind blowingly expensive and have alot of errors. Look how long its taken blue-ray players to come down and to the standard they are now. but i have a ps3 so i would be happy in using that as my 3d blueray player if i did get a tv which i cant see in the next 3-5 years till prices are down and have mastered this new feature.

I don't think they are going to be expensive, for starter's the PS3 can be converted with a firmware update, price nothing, the sony 760 this year's model will have it on price probaly £300 again.

The price problem is the amp and tv from what I can see.

Remember that for the rumoured S770 to play 3D BD discs, it needs to have a more powerful processor than the S760, not just minor tweaks. The price initially will be higher than the current model.
