Monday night's back to being quiz night - University Challenge and Only Connect. Though I must admit I find the teams on the latter almost invariably odd (and not in a good way), and VCM to be borderline unbearable.

Started rewatching Clarkson's Farm for some brain off entertainment. Very enjoyable.

We have the DVD of Educating Rita. Watched it again this evening. Julie Walter's is fantastic as Rita. Very funny with a sad undercurrent of someone trying to improve her dreary life, wrecking her marriage in the process.

"Hello Frank. Wouldn't you just die without Mahler?" Classic.

Never watch films, rarely watch TV - but wouldn't miss this - a comedian that has made me (properly) laugh.

Been watching the repeats of The Persuaders! It really is cheesy but it's fun to watch... and the great cars they used back in the day: Lord Brett Sinclair drove a lovely Aston DBS and Danny Wilde with gorgeous red Ferrari Dino. There were other cars in various episodes: NSU RO80, Citroen DS etc etc.

Watched Secret World of Burgers. Interviewed was Peter Gordon, owner of Gourmet Burgers. His hi-fi system is all Leema equipment, incl. the Pulse, Antila, Elements phono stage and Xeta floorstanders.

Currently watching 'Dance With A Stranger'. Film about the complex life of Ruth Ellis. Miranda Richardson (Blackadder fame) plays Ruth beautifully. Very versatile actor.

Paxman: Putting up with Parkinson's. Curmudgeonly, touching and funny.

Agatha Christie's Poirot. Although the ending is quite predictable with all the possible suspects gathered in one room.

Not big into 'Whodunnit' type programmes or films, David Suchet is fabulous as Hercule Poirot. Very underrated actor.

Even though I'm not a TV addict, late evening weeknights is heaven for me.

At 10pm on Great TV there is The Persuaders!. Fun piece of retro TV. At 11pm on ITV3+1 they are showing repeats of Foyle's War.

The chemistry between Michael Kitchen (Foyle), Honeysuckle Weeks (Sam Stewart) and Anthony Howell (Paul Milner) is a joy to behold. Throw in shed loads of famous guest actors in every episode; the writing is sublime, the best Anthony Horowitz has produced IMO.

Depends how you define major. I’d probably say Days of Thunder, but I saw BMX Bandits at the cinema in 83. My Mum worked there so I saw lots of mediocre that I wouldn’t have paid to see.. Salute of the Jugger is the only film I’ve ever walked out of.

Finished HOTD and TROP and am currently enjoying Andor.
