daveh75:Jools' Annual Hootenanny.

Yep I watched Hootenanny as I am sure many others did. Highlights for me were Laura and Lydia Rogers and I also (surprisingly) really liked Plan B doing "Stay Too Long". Really good live performance, stood out for me, considering I really dont rate him or his music normally.

Totally agree, although there was too much Jools for me and not a lot of quality on the programme. I enjoyed Vampire Weekend too, so much so I bought the 2 CDs last night at 1am! [not an alcohol related purchase of course

Three Men Go to Scotland, which covered the West Coast of Scotland and featured someone who I used to work with (the womens Highland Games Champion who competed against Dara O'Brien in the hammer throw).

A great little horror movie. I was expecting a cr*p-fest, cos it has M. Night Shyamalan's name attached to it, who is just abysmal, as anyone that has seen 'The last airbender' will back me on. But, luckily he didn't direct this and he didn't write the script, he just came up with the concept. The premise is that four people get trapped in a lift and one of them is the Devil. Trust me, it's a lot better than it sounds!

I also watched:

Well, I watched 40 minutes of it, anyway, before I couldn't take anymore. It is THE worst film I have ever seen. Seriously. It's soooo far off the mark with the humour that I was actually squirming in my chair as I watched.

But, to finish on a high:

This is hilarious! Especially the first 20 minutes. It does go on for for about 20 minutes too long, but apart from that, it's brilliant. Cracked me up.

Battlestar Galactica. Got the box set today for £39 from HMV. Not sure if it was mis-priced as I noticed the rest of the BG box sets were marked up as £59 on the way out of the shop. Call me dishonest but I wasn't going back to ask ;-)

This got some really bad write-ups on web sites, but I really enjoyed it. It's obviously taken it's visual inspiration from the 'Transformers' flicks (they've even nicked the 'Transformers' font for the credits). But, visual plagiarism aside, I found it to be a slightly different take on the alien-invasion genre.

'Believe' a documentary about Eddie Izzard. I had no idea he had spent so long struggling along with street theatre and shows at the Edinburgh Festival. It was very interesting to find out that his style of having conversations between characters from monkeys to the devil on stage is down to him being part of a double act for so long. My favourite stand up comedian.

I didn't think this would be able to hold my attention, being that it's an hour and a half of Ryan Reynolds buried alive in a coffin, but I was wrong. Although it did take a little while for me to be drawn into the story, by the end, I was tense as hell. I genuinely started to feel claustrohobic at the end. It's a really well crafted bit of film-making.
