The Orb featuring David Gilmour - Metallic Spheres

Now maybe a bit unfair of me to judge as i am only on my 1st play and still haven't got through the whole thing yet, but i have to say i'm very disappointed.

Listened to it twice today and was very impressed, but it sounds like a David Gilmour album, not an Orb one. Not a bad thing !!!

Gave it another listen last night and i'm still not getting it. Will try a couple more times but it may well be sent to cd heaven fairly soon, never to be seen again.

Pete Shields:Is it more Orb or Floyd? Quite fancy it.

Very much a David Gilmour project in my opinion so therefore a strong Pink Floyd influenced sound, but in a chilled and atmospheric way. The album titles are silly and confusing when you download to the likes of itunes tho...

I didn't even know this was coming out till I read this thread. Listening to it now. I agree that it sounds more Gilmour than Orb, although it does remind me a little bit of The Orb when Steve Hillage is part of the lineup in some ways.

I like it, but I'm a big orb fan and find I enjoy just about anything Alex Patterson lends his hand to.
