Hey

I am quite new to all of this and I am not sure what all these settings mean and whats best?

If I dont have DD I can force 5.1 which sounds ok, but there are settings like DD PLIIX Music and movie and game, and a setting called Neo:

What settings do you guys use when just watching TV?

Thanks

I assume thats probably the movie one on mine.

I noticed that if you put it on music it will put the speech through all the fronts, but movies leaves it on the centre.

But sometimes you can hear this electric grubble sound on some shows in that setting, but on DD its perfect in that setting.

Very confusing

Yes PLII Cinema only uses the Centre for dialouge, PLII Music has more of a Stereo effect.

I only get DD from HD channels, but the sound is definitely better.

I find PLIIx Music, with a slight increase in the centre width, gives the best all-round presentation of stereo material.

So you like the voice coming over all 3 fronts?

To me this does sound better in non DD.

All/most movies are DD on sky HD, which is quite good.

No, the voice doesn't appear to come from all three fronts: it's well focused on the screen, but still with good stereo imaging.
