Hughes123:And secondly, I'm not full of bravado - I'm suggesting choices for the OP to consider; if you don't like them, just go ahead and satisfy your ego by banning me.

I'm sure the irony of the display of bravado in that sentence won't be wasted on most readers.

Abusing moderators really is a good way to get banned. Again. As is yet another attempt at trading, which you know is not allowed on these forums.

After all, you have been banned and repeatedly ban-dodged in the past, so you are rather living on borrowed time, young Master Hughes.

ashworth_rich:Nice NAD 3020 for peanuts (£50) I use one daily and it really does deserve the legendary status; lush, rich open sound, bags of pace and power.

I get what your saying however see its your 3rd system. I can afford the 8000A that you use in your "1st". I'm wanting to get something that bit better around £120.

Seems very likely it will be the C320BEE however I'm looking out for a 540a or 640a going cheap too as WHF seems to give them good marks. Also searching for the Marantz KI models however seem to be a bit expensive at the moment.

Is it worth looking at the NAD C340 / C350?

I find the 8000a can be a bit too revealing of bright/harsh recordings. Mines an early one which I believe are the worst.

I'm sure the c320 would be great for you anyway. The CA may be a bit bright/analytical judging by the comments/consensus on this forum, but still great hifi non the less (its all down to taste i'm sure).

Funnily enough I had a c340 before the 8000a and it was a great amp, very powerful with great dynamics. However, changing to the audiolab openened up the top end like you wouldn't believe. Vocals were literally set free, really breathy. But I would criticise the Audiolab as sounding too harsh at times with some CDs. Still making the change from the NAD to the 20 yr old Audiolab renewed my faith and enthusiasm in hifi, since the difference was so apparent.

Have fun!
