Hi, all.

I'm afraid I'm still on about subs. We've been given some Amazon vouchers recently which I can put towards a sub. Obviously, this limits the place you can buy a sub from to some extent but basically means it'll be free (so no BK Electrics...)

The options within the price bracket appear to be...

Wharfedale Diamond SW150

or

Mission MS8

or

Wharfedale Diamond 10.SX.

The SW150 looks like it's got a bigger amp (and goes 3Hz lower) than the 10.SX so I guess the SX is out.

This leaves the SW150 and the MS8.

My fronts are Kef Q35.2 which (apparently) go down to 45Hz. Mission C77 (needs to be a Kef, I know!) and MA bookshelf as rear surrounds. Sony STRDH800 and Sony BDP S370. Mainly used for film / TV but with a bit of music (hopefully to increase in ammount).

So..

Is it worth getting the MS8 or SW150 as they only go down to 35Hz or will it not make much difference if floorstanders go to 45Hz? If it is worth getting one, which one?

Answers on a postcard, please!

Hello, I have the SW150 and the sound is quite impressive. Even at low volumes you to feel the sound and hear the bass. The down side is that if you live in an appartment like I do then, you have to turn it down if you do not want to bother the neighbours. Regarding music the SW150 also improves the overall sound however it is not the most musical. I had used other budget subwoofers in the past and the SW150 really made a difference. For the price it has there is no complaint, it is definetly a good choice.

Since BK is out of the equation, I agree with Rendu. MJ Acoustics Pro 50 is also OK if you can find it cheap.

I had a SW150 for a while and it's a cracking sub for the money, you won't regret it.
