I think the large fonts and rounded edges are to prevent eyestrain and cuts.

In that case people should either :-

a) put their glasses on

or

b) get a bigger screen

I'm sitting a foot away from a 22" screen and the text is definatly large. *dirol*

Only using this on a phone so far, which is 95% of my usage. Sorry, but I really hate it. Everything is too large and illogically set out. Avatars are enormous, when a user was last active is also huge. The 'post title' is massive and usually makes no sense as it is the first few words. And then I can only see a few lines of text at a time. And on the active topics I can only really see one topic at a time, which is ridiculous.

Posting this it also seems the problems of posting from an iPhone persists, yet there is now no option to disable (and then enable) rich text, rather I have to click 'done' and then click back in to stop it freezing.

Can I please have an option of a 'desktop view' like on most sites?
Posting this from my iPhone ok, anyone else having problems on mobile? You have to select Text format/comment filter before saving.

And the signature thing will be a PITA as mine was links to my system threads, which will be buried somewhere in the midsts of time.
Sorry, I know losing your signatures will annoy some people, but we couldn't migrate them across.

The font size on this 23" display is perfect now but my PC chair is 3 metres away from the screen, I need to get a wireless mouse now to use the forum & people aren’t going to be happy with my chair blocking the hallway - Way to big, around the same size as typing at 16 - 18 using Word on this screen.

Pretty slow going, the forum isn't very responsive is there any chance in getting a bit of a speed boost?

And Andy Clough needs to update his picture, which I think was taken in the Algarve circa 1996. 😉

Now that I can't deny! Relaunching this website has definitely made me older and greyer, though probably not wiser *smile*

We've already implemented quite a few performance tweaks, it's certainly quicker at our end than the old site.

I do hate being negative but I am unlikely to use this site all the while it is so slow and while everything is huge.

Can it not just be a normal forum layout like this one for example? It almost seems custom designed when perfectly adequate templates are out there being used every day?

Again, sorry for the negative tone, hopefully taken as constructive critisism. I used to visit the site daily but now it's such an odd layout I am not so sure. Sorry!

Edit: I would also add that this does not reflect the nicely layed out magazine...

I'm sure you were expecting a degree of negativity, people not liking change etc.; but the site really does look awful.

Fonts, buttons, labels...almost everything is ridiculously oversized, as if I've zoomed in and made everything on the screen very large.

Also in the forums, the individual topics are not differentiated clearly enough, making it hard to scan down the page.

Are we stuck with this now? I hope not.

Totally agree with you. Can't believe they've spent 12 whole months producing something so cluttered, unintuitive and hard to use. What a completely pointless and thoroughly disappointing exercise. That's me out.

I know a lot of work probably went into this but it looks awful. Everything is everywhere, sorry but it's a mess. Page loading times between 5 and 11 seconds!!

Er, if we start a poll to kick this 'new and improved' site out and we can muster more than 5,000 votes will you consider it?

i've trawled around here since the minute you made it live and it's just too messy.

Hope the developers didn't charge more than £20 as you've been tucked up!

Getting used to the new site. Much quicker to use the comment editor than before so that's good. However, is it really necessary to have a huge 'TOP' button after each post wasting so much space? My phone does this from a single keypress or touchscreen swipe, and I assume other phones can do this via touchscreen scrolling?

I've just had a quick look at the reviews and most of them don't have a price which it makes looking at the reviews pointless, imo *dash1*

This is hilariously bad.

I'm just so glad it's not just me (with my 9-year-old Windows XP laptop). It's oversize, it's slow, it's impossible to get around and some basic functions don't seem to work properly (redirecting after login - teehee).

A bit like when Naim switched from their old forum to the dreadful HoopLa. Who designs this stuff? 15-yr-olds with no experience of using them?

Oh look, I just went over a line and lost sight of several words of text.

FAREWELL AND GOODNIGHT!

It's sped up a bit now that some of the site has cached as I've visited certain bits. Although not definitive pingdom doesn't rate to well.

It will take a while for the servers to update and the site to cache, so performance will improve over the next few days.

I can't say I like it (using IE10) but will give it a go before making a final judgement. Can't see a "Mark all posts read" button. Is there one?

Chris
