tractorboy:Ok, I feel bad now because of my unhelpful contributions to this thread. So here's my tuppence worth to make amends:

Good hi-fi equipment is to music what 3D televisions may one day be to films, except the technolgy is here - mature and affordable.

Is that better?

I decided to buy a decent system (NAD & B&W) after having hundreds of cds and only a little all in one to listen to them on. Thought i should really spend some of the money on trying to get the most out of them. I think it helped that my dad love's music too, although had the family commitments i don't which stopped him spending and listening as much.

I've been really happy with my systems (even the Naim one that in hind sight sacrificed some of the fun for detail).

This current set up will last me years and years.

Yes, yes, I'm warming to my topic now. Here's another one, and I wasn't even trying this time...I'm on fire, burn burn etc. etc.

tractorboy:It's those "wow" moments that make you lift your head out of your book and wonder who invited the percussionist into the living room.

Incidentally, this image was blocked when I was on the forums at work earlier... but then we do have very good IT.

I have always been very fond of music. Music brings joy, a range of emotions, much pleasure through the ears. Listening to music for hours is a cheap enoug pass-time in itself, and when you're growing up all you care about is what is played or if you'll get away with playing it just that little bit louder, not how it sounds or how expensive the system is. I recently changed all my entertainment system pretty much at once: gone were the DVD player, the 26" LCD tv and the "budget" stereo. In fact it wasn't just a case of upgraditis. More like a rush of blood to the head, and I blame this magazine for pushing my curiosity and making me want to experience everything I had been reading while researching my first upgrade. Music holds an important part in my life and with the many years of enjoyment to come out of this current, I believe that it was money well spent and I feel confident in the knowledge that overall I probably got some very good kit for the total outlay. And now that the trepidation and excitement from them "new shiny things" has gone, it is time to return to the Music.
