warm up time for optimal sound

I noticed it today and that was that i got this feeling of my system sounding more soft, less intrusive in the high frequency, after it has been warmed upand played for a short time. That's only something i have noticed with a big pa system, where in start the top seems more metalic and after mabye an hour the top is a bit more soft, smooth (foreplay? )

Is that normal?

It's true. And i've noticed the difference is even more obvious depending on which USB lead I use and depending on the direction of my speaker cables.

(Come on let's get it all over and done with in one thread!)

I must admit that it took a good hour or two of warming up before my system started to sound at it's best... although to be fair this was after I had first plugged it all in, and the amp had been in storage for about 10 years...

My amp sounds at its best after warmed up for at least 30 mins or so.

Can't explain why though..

I believe class A amps are known to need to reach their (pretty high) operating temperature before sounding their best. I haven't seen measurements to support this but im sure there are some out there. Half an hour should cover that, I recon!

Mine sounds better after an hours use, but I'm unsure if this is the electronics or the speakers. I vote speakers loosening up. A bit. Before anyone starts :p

I leave everthing switched on. Lights dimmed when not in use, oven on low, immersion heater on, kettle on standby, TV on always. As for my stereo, everything left on with amp turned down but still playing music at night, work on on holiday. Does it sound better? How would I know, it's on all the time but everything is instantly ready in my house.

some say I'm being irresponsible but being an audiophile gives me the right to use the energy I pay for any damn way I please. Say no to standby just leave everything powered up, you know it makes sense!
